Master Remodelers Receives Two Awards for Builder Excellence
Master Remodelers has once again proven their excellence in the luxury remodeling industry. The company has been recently honored with two prestigious awards for their Country Club luxury basement renovation, further solidifying their position as Pittsburgh’s premier high end design-build firm.
These recognitions, presented from both local and national platforms, serve as a testament to Master Remodelers’ commitment for delivering exceptional craftsmanship, innovative design, and unparalleled customer satisfaction.
2023 Qualified Remodeler’s Master Design Award Recipient
The Qualified Remodeler’s Master Design Awards is an annual award recognizing remodelers, architects, builders, kitchen and bath specialists, and other professionals who demonstrate creativity in design; meticulous craftsmanship; and a commitment to high-quality results. The competition serves as a benchmark for excellence, celebrating the contributions of top talents in the industry from all across the U.S.
Nominees from nationwide residential remodeling and interior design companies were rigorously evaluated by a panel of six industry experts. Entries were judged on aesthetic appeal, construction techniques, problem-solving, attention to detail, space functionality, and overall project impression amongst 22 different categories. This year, Master Remodelers was honored with the Silver Award in the competition’s Basement category for their outstanding Country Club luxury basement renovation.
2023 BAMP Housing Excellence Award Recipient
The second honor for the Country Club project is awarded by the Builders Association of Metropolitan Pittsburgh (BAMP). Master Remodelers is this year’s proud recipient of BAMP’s Housing Excellence Award; a local award inaugurated in 1996 which aims to spotlight exceptional skills and innovation demonstrated by building and remodeling professionals exclusively in the Pittsburgh region.
Just like in previous years, the categories for the Housing Excellence Award encompass new housing and outstanding home renovations, with specific subcategories such as Energy Efficiency, Urban Projects, 55+, and Outdoor Living.
Each entry undergoes evaluation based on criteria such as the effective utilization of materials and space, interior and exterior design, and, where relevant, the allure of curb appeal. Master Remodelers stood out in the Best Remodel category for the Builders Association of Metropolitan Pittsburgh, securing the prestigious award for projects valued at $500k and above.
The Winning Project: A Luxury Basement Renovation
As one of Master Remodeler’s most notable projects, the Country Club luxury basement renovation involved the transformation of an empty basement into an elegant, multifunctional living and entertaining area.
The clients desired an open, airy space that could efficiently accommodate large gatherings. Their vision included a wet bar, bar seating, multiple TVs, a pool table, wine cellar with tasting area, gym, full bathroom, and plenty of ample storage.
The Challenge: Working with Constraints
The primary challenge for Master Remodeler’s was to create a beautiful space that met the clients’ requirements while working around unmovable bearing walls, poles, and beams. The company’s highly qualified Chief Architectural Designer Junko Higashibeppu and her multi-talented team of craftsmen rose to the occasion, finding creative solutions to overcome these obstacles.
Throughout the project, Master Remodeler’s had full autonomy in decision-making, allowing them to fully leverage their expertise. The collaboration and trust between the clients and the remodeling firm ensured that the final result exceeded expectations.
To conceal the poles and bearing walls, clever positioning of pillars was employed. The basement’s ceiling height allowed for the incorporation of a coffered ceiling in the main living area and an octagonal tray ceiling over the billiard room’s sitting area. These elements served the purpose of simultaneously concealing ductwork while adding sophisticated visual interest that the clients desired.
An Entertainment Space with an Old World Feel
Throughout the build, Master Remodelers took inspiration from the clients’ preference for Old World aesthetics. Arches were incorporated throughout the space, found most prominently in the brickwork of a built-in alcove that houses a commercial wine-opener.
The bath and kitchen cabinetry also played a crucial role in the overall design. To achieve a cohesive and luxurious look, Master Remodeler’s collaborated with Arti Reitmeyer, a renowned cabinetry manufacturer known for their craftsmanship and attention to detail. The choice of Arti Reitmeyer cabinetry added a touch of elegance and functionality to the space, elevating it to the next level.
