Master bath suite connects to nature in Sewickley Heights.
For this Sewickley Heights couple, our master bath design combined the space from 2 small bathrooms and 2 closets into one master bath with beautiful views into the countryside. Now approximately 250 sq. ft., the suite includes a double vanity, shower & bath area, a private water closet, and a his and hers walk-in closet. Plus, Universal Design features.
First, take a look at the new and open connections between the bedroom, bath suite and the natural setting outside. (Before on top, After underneath)
This master bath design includes granite countertops, a variety of porcelain tiles and sparkling glass tile in the shower. A distinctive feature is the custom made his and her medicine cabinets over the double vanity with sliding doors crafted from exotic Sapele wood by Sewickley artisan Artie Reitmeyer.
Because both the wife and our architectural designer are Japanese, there are subtle hints of Japanese design elements throughout. This includes the generous connection to nature through the large windows and use of various tiles.
This new bathroom suite also incorporates Universal Design principles for aging-in-place, including: no threshold, wide doorways; walk-in shower entry; multiple grab bars; sliding doors; levered handles.
More photos of the master suite below. In the first photo, notice how the medicine cabinet doors slide rather than hinge.
Looking toward the his and hers walk-in closet. Notice the grab bar for the tub.
The small room to the right, with custom cabinet, includes the toilet.
