An early Christmas present—our 22nd renovation award December 7th!
At the Fairmont Hotel we were honored by the Builders Association of Metropolitan Pittsburgh, bringing our total awards to 22. Located in Mt. Lebanon, our 2012 winning entry was voted by our peers “Best Multi-room Renovation—$300,000-750,000.”
Congratulations again to our designers and craftsmen for another year of award-winning remodeling work.
We’re especially proud of this “Housing Excellence” renovation award for our own home which was devastated in a tragic fire in 2011. It was a long road back, but the journey was worth it now that we’re in it for our first Christmas since 2010. Thanks to our talented design team and craftsmen for making this possible.
Our renovated home features a new kitchen and 900 sq. ft. family room addition with a cathedral ceiling, plus many state-of-the-art products and systems. This was on a November Mt. Lebanon fundraising tour for Children’s Hospital’s Free Care Fund.
The vision of a unique team of planners
As demolition, cleanup and salvaging continued for months, we assembled a one-of a kind, hand-picked team: an energy rater/architect, an interior designer, a landscape designer and an engineer to shape a vision for this very personal project. It would reflect our team’s collective design and planning knowledge and our company’s commitment to fine design and craftsmanship and green building.
Every room in the house + outdoor living spaces
While major damage from the fire was limited to the kitchen and dining area, every room in the house suffered smoke or water damage. Therefore, our renovation also included the living room, 4 bedrooms, 4 baths, two offices and a den.
It also featured enhanced outdoor living spaces with a new water feature and landscaping, fire pit and enlarged patio.
With new furnishings, fixtures and artwork, our family went with a mid-century modern decor, with some features a la TV’s ‘Mad Men’ series. Featured products include Meile, Kohler and Marvin brands.
